The Fedx "Panda Express" is getting ready to take two giant pandas from Chengdu, China to Toronto, Canada where they'll be on display, and their ride is almost ready to go!

Crews at FedEx in Memphis are putting the final touches on the MD-11F known as the "Panda Express", complete with a decal of a panda, the special logo for the zoo, and even leaves on the outside of the plane!

I was lucky enough to be invited to get an up-close tour and learn how the crews put the decals on the plane. Here are some pictures I took of the tour:

I also got to speak with the Aircraft Maintenance Manager who's part of the team doing the work. He told me how they get the decals to stick on the plane. (And the secret ingredient to making them stick is something you probably have at home!)

Listen to my interview here:

This is a picture my friends at FedEx sent me - it's the crates the pandas will be riding in on their flight to Toronto.

And this has to be one of the coolest videos! It's a time-lapse video of the decaling of one of the earlier "Panda Express" planes (a Boeing 777). Your kids will love this.

Get all the info on the flight of Er Shun and Da Mao here. One of the coolest parts of this story is how the Memphis Zoo is providing bamboo for the pandas that will be shipped each week to Canada. After all, we've got plenty to feed our pandas, Ya Ya and Le Le, so why not share?
