Today on Memphis Morning News, I had a story about a city in Canada that is warning people to stop carrying umbrellas that look like guns.

Yes, this is a real story.

Evidently, somewhere along the line, somebody thought it would be cool to make an umbrella with a handle that looks like a gun handle. I'm not questioning the logic behind this, because I don't have that kind of time.

But now there are folks who are concerned that carrying around one of these things may give others the idea that they're packing real heat. (As opposed to fake, rain-protecting heat.)

Police in Richmond, British Columbia are asking these 'gunbrella' owners to kindly leave them at home, lest they be shot by accident.

I feel the need to reiterate: this is a real story.
