I was lucky enough to be contacted via Twitter this morning by Michael Porter. He tweeted me a link to a song that I hadn't heard in years.

If you're a Memphis native, or have spent much time here over the past couple of decades or so, I'm sure you're familiar with "Christmas in Memphis". It used to be a Christmas radio staple, and I'm glad Michael pointed out where I could still hear it.

Michael co-wrote this song with Stephony Smith in 1985. (If you aren't familiar with Stephony, you need to know that she is a singer and songwriter from Memphis who went on to do BIG things in the country music industry. Ever heard "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill? She wrote that. I've been a HUGE fan of hers for years - going back to my days as a country music DJ. Read more about her here.)

But back in the day, the song was cut by the Media General Singers (of which Stephony was a member). Another big Memphis name, Reba Russell, is also heard on the song.

I'm so glad Michael contacted me, and I'll be singing this all weekend long.

Have a Merry Christmas, and hum along with me!
