I know that art is subjective, and one person's Rembrandt is another person's refuse.

But thanks to the New York Supreme Court, we now have an answer on whether lap dances are fine art.

(Drumroll please)

The court says they are NOT.

It seems there was an argument over whether lap dances could be called art, and don't let anyone fool you: it wasn't over the true meaning of art, it was all about money. Specifically, whether lap dances could be taxed. With the court's ruling, this means lap dances are taxable. The court went on to say it's because they don't promote culture in a community like ballet or other dancing does. (None of the ballets I've ever attended have involved anyone with a pole and a stage name that's something along the lines of "Chastity" or "Forbidden". I'm still waiting for someone to rock it old-school and use "Minerva".)
