The problem in funding schools isn't exclusive to the city.. now Shelby County Commissioners are protesting salary hikes for the administrators at the top, including a $56,000 pay hike for the county school superintendent.

The federal trial of former state senator John Ford get underway Tuesday as the state outlined the corruption case and what they hope to prove. Ford's attorney says his client did nothing wrong.

Good news from Columbia today. American hostages being held for 5 years are now back on American soil. Three U.S. military contractors were held for 5 years by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia.

First it was Clara from Wendy's asking "Where's the beef?". Now we know the answer. Kroger is recalling the beef and Tennessee is included in this effort. It seems some beef may contain e-coli.

Cordova is continuing its tradition of beautifying the area. The state has given the Cordova Leadership Council a grant to mark"The Beginning of Somerthing Beautiful" in the form of beautifying parkway medians in the form of 250 crepe myrtle bushes. Gene Bryan of the Cordova Leadership Countil tells MMN of the impact .

You'll soon see 150 plush rooms added to the Peabody downtown.. but those staying there won't have a movie to go to in Peabody Place. This weekend, Muvico will close its' doors and the Peabody will get ready to convert the space into more hotel rooms.

Opening statements will be heard today in Nashville in the trial of former state senator John Ford. A jury was seated Tuesday after just two days. Ford is on trial for consulting work he did for two major TennCare contractors.

It appears as if more and more convicted felons want their voting rights restored. And Tennessee isn't immune to this trend.. especially after convictions in Tennessee Waltz and other cases.

The "First 48" may not be dead in Memphis. There were reports last week that the city is pulling out of filming for the A&E show.. but now there's a report the show may resurface in Memphis. The Lester Street massacres will be the focus of the next First 48 on July 15.

An expanded tax base should spell good news for DeSoto County schools. The additional dollars shouuld help for expansions and expenses as more families move to DeSoto.

There's a new superintendent in town. Dr. Kriner Cash arrived in Memphis Monday and met with the school board as he gets ready to take over the ship.

What's the connection between Memphis and the Boston Red Sox?  That's what the FBI wants to know after the Red Sox received a threatening letter sent from Memphis.

It's the same concept as "Cops" and "48 Hours". Now Memphis will be spotlighted in a new Spike TV series called "Real Vice Cops Uncut" set to premiere Wednesday August 6th at 9pm.
