If It's Friday, It's Time For Winners, Losers
Friday 04-24-2009 1:12pm CT
LOSER(S): Let me be perfectly blunt about anonymous letters I receive on a daily basis: They go straign into the garbage can. Understand? You are wasting your time. Besides, you are a coward and I have no time for cowards.
WINNER: Nobody knows who a mysterious, wealthy, overly generous donor is, but one thing is for sure: Colleges headed by women are receiving millions of dollars. I think it's great, don't you? Could it be a team of millionaires, just one, nobody knows. My comment is plain and simple: Keep it coming because women deserve it.
LOSER: Sorry, but President Barack Hussein Obama is weak. I've always thought he would lead from that position, but never as much as he has done this early in his adminitration. The latest indicator is hie back-and-forth on the question of torture. Here's the way it has gone: Let's not prosecute, then he caught heat from the wacko liberals in his party, and now he's going to leave it to U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder.
LOSERS: The top operative in the CIA in 2005 warned Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales, a Republican in the Bush Administration, that wiretaps were serious enough to require telling Rep. Jane Harman, a Democrat, she could be moving into an investigation into Israeli influence peddling. Well, surprise, surprise, Gonzales told the CIA to back off. Gonzales, according to the New York Times, said Harman was too valuable to the Republicans.
LOSER: I can't control these things, but President Barack Obama is going t bankrupt this country if he pushes through his Universal Healthcare. We've got a less-than-perfect system right now, but it sure beats a national version.
LOSER: Fox News Anchor Shephard Smith dropped the F-bomb this week during a rant-filled diatribe on torture. Here, without the F-bomb, is just a piece of it: "...We are America!.....I don't give a rat's.....if it helps. We do not torture!......" Oh, then saving a major hotel in Los Angeles, which was targeted by terrorists and exposed by waterboarding, is no big deal. Mr. Smith, you are dead wrong and that is the operative word: Dead. That's what would have happened if the terrorits had done the deed to that building which has, on average, 10,000 people working in it.
LOSER: Dr. George Flinn, a member of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, says this of Northwest and Delta Airlines: "With the recent merger of Northwest and Delta, the new 'Delta' has begun serving peanuts, rather than their long history of non-allergenic pretzels. In their long history of peanut-free flights Northwest has shown interest and compassion for people with peanut allergy or anaphylaxis. As a friend of mine, I ask you to reply to me with one statement in which I will forward onto the airlines for you. Dear Northwest (the new Delta), please re-examine your policy regarding serving peanuts on your flights. Please reinstate your flight announcements warning and addressing this issue."

Herenton's Bombshell
Wednesday 04-22-2009 10:27am CT
Never underestimate "King" Willie Herenton. Now he says he's going to run against 9th District Congressman Steve Cohen. If that happens, Cohen, in my opinion, is toast in the heavily black district. Cohen has the backing of several prominent, so-called self-appointed, black leaders (i.e. Maxine Smith), but Herenton's support among blacks in general is deep. Oh, I didn't forget on the point of potential legal problems for His Majesty, like the FBI sniffing around for some time, questioning some of Herenton's top aides. The IRS reportedly has been brought into the FBI operation, which generally means it has the possible weight of a "paper trail" problem more than anything else. Another thing: Don't put much stock in the general view that the feds definitely will nail Herenton. But, as usual, the lightning rod Herenton has a way of making news. He certainly did yesterday. Knocked his budget message in the ditch. Stay tuned. We will, as usual. I would love to see a Herenton-Cohen slugfest. Both have white-hot tempers. Please, Lord, let the games begin.
Race, Race And More Race ( Are You Surprised?)
Tuesday 04-21-2009 10:40am CT
I was asked recently if we would ever overcome racial problems in this country. I know this is always like walking through a minefield blindfolded. I said, "Are you kidding?" I meant it. There are two many in the black community not all, but a lot)who revel in racial unrest, most certainly black politicians. It has an automatic eruption factor that fires up their constituents, doesn't it? Well, the U.S. Supreme Court is going to consider four cases shortly that is certain to make these race-based issues erupt again. The Obama administration is probably happy about it, too. Remember U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric Holder saying we have a nation of "cowards" when it comes to talking about race. I resented that comment, but Holder insured we would do just that. The cases involve voting rights, employment, housing and education. It will be interesting watching because almost assuredly the primary focus will beam down on Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy. He could be the swing vote in all of the cases, much like Sandra Day O'Connor before retiring recently. She was a swing vote who anchored more 5-4 votes than any previous justice.
Race, Race And More Race
Tuesday 04-21-2009 10:17am CT
I told a friend of mine recently that the issue of race will never evaporate; too many folks benefit from it, primarily in the black community. I mean it. I firmly believe if these race fanatics would just cool it, things would be much better. Well, I got a telephone call from my friend and he said "you are right......did you see the U.S. Supreme Court docket?".......... As a matter of fact, I did see it. Here we go again: four cases in the race arena, so that means another several years of dealing with this. It is, however, going to be an interesting ride because of the dynamics involved. The focus is on one justice, in my mind, and that is Associated Justice Anthony Kennedy. He is a swing vote with four liberals, uber liberals if you will, and four conservatives. Former Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor held that swing vote title before retiring. She was the anchor of more 5-4 court decisions than any other justice -- ever. These four cases involve voting rights, employment, housing and education. Here's a synopsis: REVERSE DISCRIMINATION: This involves white firefighters in New Haven. No blacks and only two Hispanics qualified for promotions baed on their test scores (i.e, they didn't passs). The testing was canceled (what else is new?) and whites claim this amounts to "overt racial balancing, de facto quotas
Just A Reminder......Keeping Track On Obama's Apologies
Tuesday 04-21-2009 10:01am CT
In a stunning development, President Barack Hussein Obama is now within reach of a record number of apologies that he thinks we owe countries and dictators, Communists, Socialists and goodness knows what -- and who -- else. The President feels it is imperative that he accomplish his goal of 350 apologies within the first 1,000 days of his first (and hopefully) only term. I am trying to e-mail all of the cronies and despots Obama has apologized to with my personal goal of saying he does not represent me in this idiotic endeavor. Care to join me?
